Featured Partner Scholarships: March-April 2023
March Madness is upon us—and scholarship season is pretty crazy, too. Scholarship America and our partners have dozens of scholarships open that you can apply for right now; our featured programs this week include a guaranteed scholarship for families of frontline healthcare workers who lost their lives fighting COVID-19; programs from Wells Fargo to assist veterans and those with disabilities; and a unique opportunity for students in the Boston metro area.

Brave of Heart Scholarship
In May of 2020, the Foundations of Cigna and New York Life established the Brave of Heart Fund, with a mission to provide charitable grants and emotional support services to families of frontline healthcare workers, volunteers, and support staff whose lives were lost in the fight against COVID-19.
Administered by E4E Relief, the Brave of Heart Fund includes the Brave of Heart Scholarship—a program that awards scholarships to the children, spouses or domestic partners of frontline health care workers who lost their lives to COVID-related causes. Applications for the Brave of Heart Scholarship are now open.
If you lost a parent, spouse or domestic partner who was employed or volunteering as a frontline health care worker, you may be eligible to apply. You must also be a U.S. citizen or legal resident, planning to enroll, full-time or part-time, in undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the upcoming academic year.
If you are currently in school, you must also have a GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent. Non-traditional students, students in study-abroad programs and students returning to college after time off are encouraged to apply, even if you don’t have a recent GPA. Finally, applicants who lost a parent must be age 26 or under at the time of the application deadline. (There is no age restriction for spouses/domestic partners.)
The Brave of Heart Scholarship is not a competitive program; all eligible applicants will receive funds. Award amounts range from $5,000 to $25,000 per academic year, depending on financial need and area of study, and most awards can be received for up to a total of four years. (Graduate students may be eligible for awards up to $50,000/year.)

Tanya D. Bloker Memorial Scholarship
Corium is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company that is leading the development and commercialization of central nervous system (CNS) healthcare therapies. Located in Boston, Corium works to provide clinicians with important treatment options for patients, their families, and their caregivers.
As the head of marketing for Corium, a biopharmaceutical company leading the development of central nervous system healthcare therapies, Tanya Bloker was passionate about people. This was evident in her tenacious spirit and the way she approached her work supporting patients and new treatments for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Her love for people extended to her commitment to those who worked around her, helping them to achieve their potential, and to those less fortunate by finding ways to support them. The Tanya D. Bloker Memorial Scholarship has been established in her memory, to support students in Boston (MA) who have been diagnosed with ADHD and who are pursuing a college education.
If you live in the greater metro Boston area and you have an ADHD diagnosis, you may be eligible to apply for one of two $5,000 awards. You must also be a high school senior, high school graduate or current college undergraduate, planning to enroll in fulltime undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
Your financial need will be considered, and you’ll also be asked to provide a verified ADHD diagnosis to be eligible.

Wells Fargo Veterans Scholarship and Emergency Grant Programs
While military service comes with education benefits, many veterans returning to school still face gaps in funding – especially when it comes to unexpected costs and living expenses. The Wells Fargo Veterans Scholarship and Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grant programs are designed to help veterans complete the postsecondary education or training they need to return to — and succeed in — civilian life and work.
The Wells Fargo Veterans Scholarship provides scholarships up to $5,000 per year, helping veterans and the spouses and widows of service-disabled veterans cover costs that remain after they’ve used their military benefits and other grants. Scholarships are renewable each year, to help recipients focus on completing their degrees rather than worrying about paying for future costs.
Of course, the college journey isn’t always smooth, and that’s why the Emergency Grant component of the program is there to help when financial setbacks strike. Veterans enrolled in higher education can apply for emergency grants when faced with unexpected bills or costs. Ranging up to $1,000, these immediate, one-time grants are designed to keep recipients in school and on track without creating undue financial hardship.

Wells Fargo Scholarship for People with Disabilities
According to U.S. Department of Labor statistics, Americans with disabilities face an uphill battle when it comes to joining the workforce. While nearly 77% of working-age people (ages 16-64) without disabilities are currently employed, less than 40% of those with disabilities are active in the workforce. Educational opportunities can help close that gap, that’s why Wells Fargo is proud to offer the Wells Fargo Scholarship Program for People with Disabilities. This program is geared specifically toward part-time and full-time college students with disabilities, helping them pursue the education or training they need to succeed in their chosen career path.
In partnership with Scholarship America, Wells Fargo has provided nearly $1 million to help 201 scholarship recipients with disabilities achieve their educational goals. In 2023, the Wells Fargo Scholarship for Program for People with Disabilities will once again provide awards of up to $2,500 to qualifying full-time students, renewable up to three years. Awards of up to $1,250 are available to qualifying part-time students and are renewable up to seven years, or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.
“I believe programs like this pushed me to use my voice to advocate for myself and others,” said Gloria Li, a 2019 University of Florida graduate with Tourette’s syndrome, who received the Wells Fargo Scholarship for People with Disabilities for two years. “I am truly grateful for scholarship programs like Wells Fargo’s because it sends the message that people with disabilities have potential that transcends the limitations they were born with and that we deserve a voice and representation in society.”
